Saver and Plus fares within Europe cost €40 per flight to change online, and transatlantic Saver fares cost €100, plus any fare difference. Aer Lingus change rules by fare type
How easily you can change your Aer Lingus booking depends on your fare. Aer Lingus sells different fare types for flights within Europe and for transatlantic flights. Your fare type is shown beside your itinerary in your booking. From least to most flexible:
- Saver
Europe and transatlantic. Changes allowed for a change fee plus any fare difference. No refund if cancelled.
- Plus
Europe only. Same change fees as Saver, with a checked bag included. No refund if cancelled.
- Smart
Transatlantic only. Lower change fee than Saver for trips starting in Europe, plus any fare difference.
- Advantage & AerSpace
Europe only. No change fee, only the fare difference. Changes allowed at the airport up to departure. Full refund if cancelled before departure.
- Flex & Business
Transatlantic. No change fee, only the fare difference. Flex is fully refundable before departure; Business is refundable less 15% and an admin fee.
- Business Flex
Transatlantic. Date, time and route changes allowed subject to availability, and fully refundable.
Aer Lingus change fee and rebooking fee
These are the change fees Aer Lingus publishes per person, per flight (sector). Any fare difference is added on top, and neither is refundable.

Journeys between the UK or Continental Europe and the USA that connect in Ireland are charged a combination of the short-haul and long-haul fees. Fees can change; confirm them in your booking before you pay.
Change fee vs. fare difference
An Aer Lingus change usually has two parts. The change fee is the fixed charge for your fare type and route. The fare difference is the gap between what you paid and today's price for the new flight. If the new flight is cheaper, Aer Lingus doesn't refund the difference.
Example: You paid €180 for a Saver return from Dublin to Paris and move the return by three days in Manage Trip. The new fare is €25 higher.
Your cost: €40 change fee + €25 fare difference = €65 per person. On an Advantage fare you would pay only the €25.
Aer Lingus date change and rescheduling
You can reschedule an Aer Lingus flight to a new date or time on every fare type, subject to availability. Changes must be made at least 2 hours before departure, and your new travel date can be up to 330 days from the day you make the change. On Advantage, AerSpace, Flex and Business Flex fares you can also change at the airport up to departure. Changes are only allowed from the same country of origin.
Aer Lingus name change policy
Aer Lingus allows name changes on flights it operates, including Aer Lingus Regional, for €100 / £80 / US$157 per person. The change must be made at least 2 hours before your journey begins and applies to every flight in the itinerary. If your name is wrong on the ticket, fix it well before travel, since the name must match your passport or ID at check-in.
Aer Lingus no-show policy
If you miss a flight without changing it first, the rest of your booking may be cancelled, and Saver and Plus fares have no refundable value. On Advantage, AerSpace and Flex fares, the missed departure fee is waived for changes made at the airport on the day of departure. If you know you'll miss a flight, change it before departure or contact whoever issued your ticket.
Aer Lingus 24-hour rule
For flights to or from the United States, US Department of Transportation rules let you change or cancel without penalty within 24 hours of booking, as long as you booked at least 7 days before departure. This is a US rule, not a general Aer Lingus grace period, so it doesn't apply to flights within Europe.
Modify your Aer Lingus booking
Beyond date changes, there are several other ways to amend an Aer Lingus booking or change an Aer Lingus ticket. Each follows your fare rules.
Change your destination
You can change your destination within the same region: flights within Europe to another European destination, and transatlantic flights to another transatlantic destination. Your origin airport can't be changed.
Upgrade to an Aer Lingus flexible ticket
You can upgrade to a more flexible fare such as Advantage or Flex. On Saver, Plus and Smart fares, the upgrade counts as a change, so a change fee and fare difference apply.
Take a voucher instead
If you'd rather not rebook now, vouchers are available on Advantage and AerSpace fares to Europe, and on Smart, Saver, Flex and Business fares to North America, requested up to 2 hours before departure. Saver and Plus fares to Europe and Saver fares to North America aren't eligible.
Change a transatlantic ticket
Transatlantic changes follow the transatlantic fare rules. If your trip also includes a European flight connecting in Ireland, both sets of fees apply. Check visa and entry rules again if you change your dates or destination.
If Aer Lingus changes or cancels your flight
If Aer Lingus cancels your flight or changes the schedule significantly, it must offer you an alternative or a refund at no change fee. On flights covered by EU261 or UK261 rules, you may also be entitled to meals, accommodation and compensation, depending on the delay and its cause. If you miss a connection on the same ticket because of an Aer Lingus delay, the airline rebooks you; separate tickets aren't protected.
