Whether you can change an Aeromexico flight depends on your fare. Flex fares allow unlimited changes with no change fee. Classic, AM Plus and Premier fares allow changes for a fee plus any fare difference, and the first change is free on flights from the US to Mexico. Basic and Light fares cannot be changed. All changes must be made at least 3 hours before departure.

Aeromexico change rules by fare type
Aeromexico sells "branded fares." Each one has fixed change rules, shown on your e-ticket and in your booking confirmation. From least to most flexible:

Light
No changes and non-refundable. Launched in 2026 on selected routes.

Basic
No changes to flight, date, time or destination. Same-day changes are not permitted.

Classic
Changes allowed for a fee plus any fare difference. On flights from the US to Mexico, the first change is free (fare difference may apply). Non-refundable.

AM Plus & Premier
Same change structure as Classic, with more comfort. The newer AM Plus Basic and Premier Basic fares, sold in Mexico on selected US routes, follow their own conditions, so check your ticket.

Flex versions
Classic Flex, AM Plus Flex, Premier Flex and Premier One Flex: unlimited changes to flight, date, time or destination with no change fee and no no-show charge. Subject to availability.
Aeromexico change fee by route
These are Aeromexico's published change fees for Classic fares. The lower figure applies in low season, the higher in high season. Changes within 7 days of departure sit at the top of each range.

Domestic Mexico: MXN 700 when you change 8 or more days before departure, MXN 1,000 within 7 days (tickets booked after 28 March 2023). International fees exclude taxes, which vary by country of purchase. Fees can change; confirm on your ticket before you pay.
Change fee vs. fare difference
A change usually costs two things. The change fee is Aeromexico's fixed charge for your fare and route. The fare difference is the gap between what you paid and today's price for the new flight. A "free change" removes the fee, but you may still pay a fare difference.
Example: You paid US$420 for a Classic round trip from Chicago to Mexico City and move your return by a week. The new fare is US$470.
Your cost: US$200 change fee + US$50 fare difference = US$250. If the trip started in the US, the first change is free, so you pay only the US$50.
Aeromexico date change and rescheduling
You can move your flight to another date, time or destination on Classic, AM Plus, Premier and Flex fares, subject to seats being available. Aeromexico requires changes at least 3 hours before departure. If you don't change or notify the airline in time, no further changes are allowed unless you hold a Flex fare.
Aeromexico 24-hour rule
For flights to or from the United States, US Department of Transportation rules let you change or cancel without penalty within 24 hours of booking, as long as you booked at least 7 days before departure. This applies even to Basic fares. Outside that window, your fare's normal rules apply.
Aeromexico name correction
Misspelled names are corrected free of charge; you'll need to show official ID. Changing the ticket to a different name costs extra (see the table above). On international flights it must be done at least 15 days before departure; on domestic Mexico flights, up to 3 hours before. Name changes aren't available on tickets bought in Brazil or paid for with a travel voucher.
Aeromexico no-show policy
If you miss a flight without telling Aeromexico first, the rest of your itinerary may be cancelled. On domestic Mexico trips, contact Aeromexico within 24 hours of the missed flight to keep the later segments. Flex fares carry no no-show charge and can be rebooked. If you know you'll miss a flight, contact whoever issued your ticket before departure.
Aeromexico schedule change
If Aeromexico cancels your flight or changes its timing significantly, it offers alternatives at no change fee. On flights to or from the United States, US rules also entitle you to a refund if you decline the new schedule after a significant change or a cancellation. Don't accept a new itinerary that doesn't work for you before checking your options.
Modify your Aeromexico reservation
On any changeable fare you can modify an Aeromexico reservation in several ways. Each follows the same rules: the change fee for your fare and route, plus any fare difference, subject to availability.
Change the return flight only
You can reschedule just the return of a round trip and keep your outbound flight. You pay one change fee and the fare difference on the leg you change.
Change the destination or route
Classic, AM Plus, Premier and Flex fares allow a change of destination, not just date or time. Because a new route usually has a different price, expect a larger fare difference.
Change a connecting or multi-city itinerary
You can change one segment of a connecting or multi-city trip, but the rest of the itinerary must still work with the new flight. If a connection breaks, the whole journey may need to be repriced.
Change an international vs. domestic flight
International changes are priced in US dollars by region (see the fee table). Domestic Mexico changes are priced in pesos and depend on how many days remain before departure.
Upgrade instead of changing
Classic fares allow upgrades. If you want more comfort rather than a new date, an upgrade to AM Plus or Premier may cost less than changing the flight.
Aeromexico same-day flight change
On Classic, AM Plus, Premier and Flex fares, you can move to another flight on the same day as long as you make the change at least 3 hours before your original departure. Normal change fees and fare differences apply unless you hold a Flex fare. Basic and Light fares don't allow same-day changes. On domestic Mexico flights, Aeromexico's AM Vuela Flex program can waive the fee and fare difference when you move to an earlier flight on the same day.
Changing Aeromexico tickets booked elsewhere
Booked on Expedia or another online travel site
The site that issued your ticket controls changes, so start there. Aeromexico's fare rules still apply on top of the site's own fees.
Aeromexico flights on a Delta ticket (codeshare)
Check the first three digits of your ticket number. Tickets starting with 139 were issued by Aeromexico; tickets starting with 006 were issued by Delta, and Delta handles changes for those.
Aeromexico Rewards (points) tickets
Tickets bought with points follow Aeromexico Rewards' own change rules. Manage them from your Aeromexico Rewards account.
Booked through a travel agent
Your agent issued the ticket and makes the change. If you booked with AirFiesta, we handle it for you.
How to change your Aeromexico flight
Change your Aeromexico flight online or in the app
- Open Manage Your Booking on aeromexico.com or the Aeromexico app.
- Enter your 6-character reservation code and last name.
- Choose the flight to change and pick a new date or time.
- Review the change fee and fare difference, pay, and save the new e-ticket.
